Opportunity knocks for Oliveira

16th April

On-loan striker Nelson Oliviera is determined to make the most of his big opportunity if he's given the green light to start at Leicester City on Saturday.
With Bafe Gomis ruled out for between three to four weeks with a hamstring injury, the Portuguese international could finally get his chance after being restricted to just one start in seven Barclays Premier League appearances since his loan move from Benfica in January.
And despite missing last weekend's draw with Everton with an ankle injury sustained in training, the striker re-joined the group on Wednesday and declared himself fit and ready if the call comes from manager Garry Monk.

"I've had to be patient waiting for my chance," explained Oliviera. "But that's understandable. It's normal that when you join a very good team who are doing well and eighth in the table, then you have to wait for your chance.
"Bafe has also been doing very well and scoring goals. He's a good player and person and I feel for him because of the injury. He's been in a good moment and is important to the team.
"I'm not happy he is injured, but if it gives me a chance then I really want to take it; work hard, play well and help the team."
Oliviera, who helped Benfica reach the Champions League quarter-final in 2012, would love to sign off his loan spell at the Liberty Stadium by scoring his first goal in a Swans shirt.
"It would be nice to score my first goal for the club,'' added the 23 year old. "But it doesn't really matter who scores the goals as long as the team wins. That's the most important thing, but of course it would be even better if I could score.
"I'm always confident in my own ability. And I know, the more I play the more confident I will get.''
