'Our spirit will be key'

Connor Roberts reckons Swansea City's team spirit will be key as they bid to secure Premier League survival.

The Swans suffered a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea yesterday which leaves Carlos Carvalhal’s side just one point above the relegation zone with three games remaining.

After falling behind to Cesc Fabregas' goal inside just four minutes, the Swans battled to find a way back into the contest but felt their efforts deserved at least a point.

But youngster Roberts, who let nobody down as he made his first Premier League start, believes the Swans’ performance shows they have what it takes to stay up.

“We were unlucky not to get a goal and just came up short in the end,” he said.

“We've conceded early on against a couple of the top-six sides over the last few weeks. That doesn’t help because our backs are against the wall straightaway and we can’t keep doing that.

“It looks like it’s going to go down to the wire, but we’ve got a good group of lads in the dressing room - we’re all brothers.

“All the boys are up for the fight and positive that we can get a few points from our last three games. If we play like we did against Chelsea, we’ll be all right.”
