Players could go this month, says Clement

Paul Clement admits he could let some players leave Swansea City before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

But Clement insists players will only be allowed to go if it makes footballing sense for his squad.

The Swans this week sold Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton in a club-record deal.

Clement plans to use the fee received for Sigurdsson to bring in up to three new signings.

And if he gets the additions he wants, Clement feels there could also be a need to move some players on.

“Potentially there will be some outgoings, whether that’s players sold or going on loan,” the Swans manager said.

“There are some of the younger ones who need some game-time. They need to bridge the gap between the Premier League and the level they are currently at.

“And if I am going to bring in one, two or three new players, we’ll need to move some on otherwise the squad becomes too big.

“I want everyone who is here to feel like they can contribute. Not only that, but you do not want to have too many players at training every day.”
