Potter: Fans can help make Liberty a fortress

Graham Potter believes Swansea City's "knowledgeable" fanbase are helping his side start to turn the Liberty Stadium into a place no team wants to visit.

The Swans are looking to make it a trio of home wins in the space of a week when they host Stoke City in SA1 tonight (7.45pm).

Potter's men saw off Brentford and Middlesbrough last week in emphatic fashion, and another three points would keep alive their slim play-off hopes and secure a run of three-consecutive league wins for the first time this season.

It has been a campaign of ups and downs as the Swans have adjusted to life back in the Championship, with a number of young players getting their first full season of first-team football under their belt.

But manager Potter has gratefully acknowledged the consistent backing he and his players have received from the Jack Army, and believes their understanding of the manner in which Swansea are trying to play has been key.

And, moving forward, he hopes their backing can help them make the Liberty Stadium a ground that no opponent is in a hurry to come and play at.

"The fans have been incredible and it is a huge thanks to them for their support," said Potter, who has made a point of showing his appreciation to supporters at the conclusion of games at home and away.

"We cannot be critical of them in their support for us, they have been amazing and are always right there, right behind us.

"I don't want to sound condescending but you can tell they are a knowledgeable set of supporters, they can see what we are trying to do and they understand what we are trying to do.

"We are doing our best to be a team they can be proud of, with a way of playing that they can be proud of. I think they can see that and they've backed us to the hilt home and away.

"We are looking to try and make the Liberty a difficult place for teams to come, and they are helping us in doing that."
