Graham Potter praised the attitude and quality of his Swansea City side as they turned in an excellent display to beat Aston Villa 3-0 in the Emirates FA Cup.

The Swans booked their place in the fourth round of the famous knock-out competition as Courtney Baker-Richardson and Nathan Dyer netted early in either half, before Jay Fulton sealed victory in the closing stages.

It ensured the visitors backed up their 4-1 success at Reading on New Year’s Day, and Potter was a happy man as his side got the better of Villa, having lost their two league meetings against the Villans earlier in the season.

“It was a really good performance, I thought,” said the Swans boss.

“We got off to a great start, scoring within two minutes again, then Erwin (Mulder) makes a great save which just shows that even in a good performance there is always a moment you have to survive.

“But, when you look at the whole 90 minutes, we had good control of the game, we created some good chances and scored goals at good times again.

“We scored early in the second half, which dampens any momentum they might have picked up.

“Overall I am delighted with the players, with their attitude and desire to try. That was fantastic and we had some quality too so a good win for us.”
