Potter happy with pre-season opener

Graham Potter believes his Swansea City side are showing early signs of progress after kicking off their pre-season campaign with a 2-1 win at Yeovil Town.

Potter, in charge for the first time since arriving from Swedish side Ostersund this summer, used 21 players in total at Huish Park.

A mixture of youth and experience took to the field in Somerset as the Swans came from behind to claim victory courtesy of goals from summer signing Yan Dhanda and Matt Grimes.

And Potter was happy with his side’s first outing.

“It was our first game after just five days of training,” said Potter. “We got a lot of players on to the pitch and we will take a lot of information from that and analyse it.

“There were things to improve on, of course, while there were things we did well.

“It was nice to finish the second half with a spirited, enthusiastic performance.

“The scoreline was nice but it’s not that important at this stage.

“We can go away and see how we need to improve and keep building, but I feel we have made progress despite only a short amount of time together.

“Overall, it was a good workout and exercise.”
