Pre-season preparations please van der Hoorn

26th July

Summer signing Mike van der Hoorn believes Swansea City's pre-season plans will prepare him for the demands of the Premier League.
The Dutchman arrived at the Liberty earlier this month from Ajax, and has already featured in three of the Swans' friendly matches.
After quickly finding his feet in his new surroundings, van der Hoorn was part of the squad that headed to America for a two-game tour.
The 23-year-old played in both games against Charlotte Independence and Richmond Kickers, before coming off the bench in last Saturday's 5-1 win over Bristol Rovers.
The Swans face further friendly matches against Swindon Town (Wednesday, July 27) and Wolves (July 30) before French side Stade Rennais visit the Liberty Stadium on August 6 in the club's final preparations before the Premier League season kicks off.
And van der Hoorn feels tests against American, English and French opposition will be invaluable as he readies himself for the new campaign.

"For me it's great to have already played against teams from America and England, while we have the game against French opposition before the season starts," said the centre-back.
"You get to play against different types of systems, and that prepares you for the start of the season.
"It has also helped me adapt to our system and style, and getting used to playing with my new team-mates.
"It's gone really well so far for me. Integrating into the group is very important, and the USA trip really helped because everyone was together for ten days."
The Swans kick off their Premier League campaign on August 13, with a visit to newly-promoted Burnley.
And van der Hoorn is looking forward to facing all the Premier League has to offer.

"We have had three weeks of pre-season, and the start of the Premier League is getting closer," he added.
"I can't wait for it all to get started. The Premier League is an amazing league - the best in the world - and I'm very excited for the first game."
