Swansea City Ladies return to Genero Adran Premier action as they travel to face Abergavenny Women in a rearranged fixture on Wednesday night. (7:30pm kick-off).

The game was originally set to be played a week ago but was postponed due to the adverse weather conditions.

The third-placed Swans go into the game looking to bounce back after a 1-1 draw away at second-placed Cardiff Met Women.

Met took the lead through Sophie Hancocks who scored directly from a corner after 25 minutes, but two minutes later the Swans were level as Nieve Jenkins headed home Stacey John-Davis’ cross.

Abergavenny come into the game in search of their first Genero Adran Premier points of the season, having lost all six of their league fixtures so far this season.

Despite difficulties in the league, Abergavenny have picked up wins in the FAW Women’s Cup, defeating Swansea University Women and Carmarthen Town Women to reach the quarter-finals.

Ceri Phillips Swans Ladies

Swansea City Ladies head coach Ceri Phillips: “There’re only three days between these games, but it’s an opportunity for us to put the result right.

“It’s a positive that we have a game coming so quickly, every team has these little moments where it’s hard to nick that goal or put your chances away.

“It’s just about one of these games really clicking and all the chances hit the back of the net and we come away with a positive result. Hopefully that’s sooner rather than later.”

Swansea City Ladies champions

In the previous meeting between these two sides, Swansea City Ladies retained the Welsh Premier Women’s League title after a goalless stalemate with Abergavenny provided the point needed to complete a league and cup double.

The Swans needed to avoid defeat to seal the league title and, despite Emma Beynon’s missed penalty in the second half, Swansea would get the necessary point to be named Champions.
