Preview | Aberystwyth Town Women vs Swansea City Women
Swansea City Women return to Park Avenue for the second time in just three weeks as the Swans face fellow Genero Adran Premier side Aberystwyth Town in the opening round of the Bute Energy Welsh Cup.
The Swans will look to quickly get back to winning ways after last Sunday’s league defeat to Cardiff City whilst Aberystwyth will also to respond after a narrow defeat to Barry Town United.
The Swans made it to the quarter-finals last year, before being defeated by eventual runners-up Wrexham.

Head coach Yzzy Taylor: "Everyone is doing well - we are lucky with the depth of squad we have that we are able to manage situations well and able to look after knocks as and when they occur. Preparation has gone well we are looking forward to the game.
"Sunday was a solid performance for us, so we are looking to fuel this weekend’s performance with the disappointment of last weekend. As a group we keep building and as always I am immensely proud of this group.
“We have been able to make a few tweaks in preparation for this weekend. Aberystwyth always give us a good game and it’s a tough ground to travel to, so we know that we will have to bring our best to see ourselves come out on top.
“Cup games are always exciting and we want to perform well regardless of the competition. Our focus this week has been to provide a good performance on Sunday and we will ensure that we are in the best possible place to do so.”
Previous meeting - November 2, 2025
A late strike from Chloe Chivers secured the Swans fourth win in as many games when these two sides met back at the start of November.
Swansea took the lead early on, after a Chivers free-kick was turned it by Seasiders player Lalita Egan within the first ten minutes.
Egan made amends for her error however, being the first to react to a loose ball in the box from a corner, to fire Aberystwyth back on level terms.
The Swans responded well to the set-back however, and found the winning goal with 20 minutes to play, when her attempted cross looped over goalkeeper Sophie Steele and into the net.
Things went from bad to worse for the Seasiders, after they were reduced to ten when Imogen Scourfield was sent off for two yellow cards, before another red card after the final whistle to Lily Moralee-Hughes.
