Swansea City Under-21s travel to Arsenal on Wednesday evening (7pm) for their Premier League Cup opener.

Anthony Wright and Jon Grey's side kicked off their Professional Development League campaign last week as they were narrowly defeated by Sheffield Wednesday 2-1. However, they will be looking to kick start their cup campaign in fine style.

Arsenal come into the fixture unbeaten after victories over West Ham United and Manchester United.

Swansea City U21s' coach Jon Grey said: "It’s a really good test for us as a group to play against one of the top producing academies in this country.

"We will go into the game respecting Arsenal but not fearing them, we will play our way and look to inflict our style on the game."

Two first-half goals from Liam Cullen and Matthew Blake weren't enough to secure all three points for the Swans as Arsenal responded in quick succession in the dying stages of the game on their last trip to face the Gunners in March 2019.

Cullen broke the deadlock with a curling effort into the bottom right corner, before Blake doubled the visitors’ advantage with a free-kick from 20 yards.

Folarin Balogun pulled one back for the Gunners in the 83rd minute after his deflected shot fired past Gregor Zabret. Just three minutes later, Nathan Tormey sealed the second-half comeback he levelled the score.
