Swansea City will look to make it three wins on the bounce when they travel to the East Midlands to take on Derby County this afternoon (3pm).

Vitor Matos' side have taken 25 points from their past 13 games, the best return of any side in the Championship other than leaders Middlesbrough since the beginning of December.

A win for Derby will potentially see them climb into the top six.

The reverse fixture saw The Rams win 2-1 at Swansea.com Stadium in November, in what was Matos' first game in charge of the club.

Team news

Melker Widell West Brom

Sweden international Melker Widell missed the wins over Watford and Sheffield Wednesday with a minor quad injury, and will be touch and go to be available to face the Rams at Pride Park.

The head coach also confirmed that Adam Idah and Ricardo Santos are stepping up their injury recoveries.

Zeidane Inoussa is still set to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines as he recovers from a stress fracture in his back.

Pre-match views

Vitor Matos: "We need to look to ourselves, look at what we need to improve and we need to be stable emotionally as well, to understand the Championship is really close.

"We don't play the table, we play the games and thankfully it's one at each time, that helps a lot.

"It's up to us to focus on our training because always when you put 50% in you get 50% out.

"If you put 100 per cent in you take 100 per cent out. That's what I want to focus on and that's where I know the players are focusing.

"Derby really know how to hurt opposition teams in different kinds of ways, quick attacks, counter, set-pieces, crosses. We know we need to be on our best to go there."

John Eustace: "They're an excellent team. They're back to the old Swansea way now of dominating possession, playing some fantastic football.

"They've got a really good coach there and they've got a group of players that know the system inside out. They've been there a long time, but they've also invested in the team as well. They’re solid - a very good Championship team and it's going to be a difficult afternoon for us.

"Saying that, our lads have worked very well this week. The signings we've made in the transfer window have certainly given everyone a boost, which is ideal. The squad are in a really good place."

Meet the officials

Referee Andrew Kitchen

Andrew Kitchen will be the man in the middle when Swansea City travel to take on Derby County at Pride Park this afternoon.

Kitchen joined the EFL as a match official at the start of the 2021/22 season. The Durham-born official spent two years on the National League prior to his promotion to the Select Group Two list of officials.

He made his EFL Championship debut in September 2023, a 1-1 draw between Queens Park Rangers and Swansea City at Loftus Road. This will be Kitchen's fifth time officiating a Swans fixture.

He will be joined by Shaun Hudson and Hugh Gilroy. David Webb will be the fourth official.

Remember the last time?

Derby County 1 Swansea City 2

Early goals from Žan Vipotnik and Ronald helped Swansea City claim all three points as they held off a determined Derby County fightback at Pride Park.

The visitors had surged into the lead inside two minutes when Vipotnik found the net with a superb finish.

A dozen minutes later and Ronald rounded off another slick move to put the Swans firmly in control.

But Derby grew into the contest and began to have periods of concerted pressure. That told when Nathaniel Mendez-Laing scored from the penalty spot.
