Preview: Swans v Watford

23rd September
First team

Swansea City go in search of their first home win of the season when they face Watford in the Premier League this afternoon (3pm).

Paul Clement’s side are in upbeat mood following a 2-0 midweek victory at Reading in the Carabao Cup and last weekend’s impressive 0-0 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.

The Swans are now aiming to maintain their strong home record against Watford – they have lost only one of the last 10 league meetings in SA1 – by getting off the mark at the Liberty in 2017-18.

Marco Silva’s Hornets side travel to South Wales desperate for a response following the 6-0 thrashing at the hands of high-flying Manchester City last weekend.

TEAM NEWS

Clement says Wilfried Bony is in contention to make his first Premier League start since his return to the Swans, while Federico Fernandez is set to make his 100th appearance for the club.

The Swans have no new injury concerns with Nathan Dyer and Ki Sung-Yueng nearing comebacks. Kyle Bartley remains on the sidelines.

Watford trio Sebastian Prodl, Younes Kaboul and Craig Cathcart are all set to miss out through injury, while Miguel Britos is banned.

Swans striker Jordan Ayew: “We have to do the job against Watford for it to be a great week. Hopefully we can make our fans happy.”
