Preview | Swansea City Ladies vs Coedffranc Ladies
Swansea City Ladies begin their FAW Women’s Cup campaign as they welcome Coedffranc Ladies to Llandarcy Academy of Sport this afternoon (2pm).
The Swans go into the game following an impressive 4-0 win over Pontypridd United Women. Jess Williams opened the scoring for Swansea, before Katy Hosford and Monet Legall made it three before the break.
Ellie Lake’s stunning 30-yard strike made it four in the second half to seal three points as the Swans returned to winning ways.
Coedffranc are currently in the West Wales Women and Girls League, currently sitting joint bottom after two league fixtures.
The Skewen side qualified for the second round after a 3-1 win over Wattsville Ladies, Cara Martin netting a hat-trick after her side fell behind early to a penalty.
The game will see the two sides meet for the first time in their history.
Swansea City Ladies assistant Harry Thomas: “We are all really looking forward to the game, we had a really positive game last Sunday and we just want to keep that going in the cup now.
“We have high aspirations in the cup, we are aiming to progress as far as we can in the cup and that all starts on Sunday.
“There shouldn’t be much of a change in mentality from the league to the cup, we want to win every game and do as well as we can.”
Swansea City Ladies will be without last season’s top goal scorer Stacey John-Davies after she suffered a shoulder injury in her side’s 2-0 defeat to Cardiff City Women.
John-Davies missed out on the 4-0 win over Pontypridd but is aiming for a shorter recovery time than was originally expected.
