Bristol City Preview

Swansea City will hope to extend their seven-game unbeaten run on home turf when they welcome Bristol City to the Swansea.com Stadium this afternoon (12.30pm).

Vitor Matos' Swans suffered defeat on the road last week against Derby County, but they will look to build on their dominant 4-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday when they last played in SA1.

The Robins, meanwhile, sit one point off the top six going into this afternoon's fixture, and were held to a 2-2 draw against Wrexham at Ashton Gate last time out in midweek.

Team news

Marko Stamenic

Swansea City have no new injury concerns ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Bristol City.

Midfielder Marko Stamenic will serve the first game of a two-match suspension against the Robins, while Adam Idah and Zeidane Inoussa continue to recover from long-term hamstring and back injuries respectively.

But Vitor Matos otherwise has a full squad to choose from.

Vitor Matos press

Vitor Matos: "It helps when you have the fans, that's clear, it helps when we have the connection when at home, that's being important for us.

"But more important is how Bristol play, how can we create problems for them. They are a really good team, organised, really fast at countering and are good at set-pieces as well.

"We need to focus more on what we can control, and what we can control is our training, what we want for the game, and how we are building our identity."

Gerhard Struber: "The reaction we had in the second half against Wrexham shows.we can respond when opponents make it difficult for us.

"This is what we can take from this game, it could be an important point.

"We have 14 games ahead and we have to do everything we can at Swansea to get another win."

Meet the officials

Will Finnie

Will Finnie will be the man in the middle this afternoon.

It will be the second time the Luton-born official has taken charge of a Swans fixture, having had the whistle for a 2-2 draw against Portsmouth last season.

Finnie started refereeing at professional level during the 2018-19 season and progressed to EFL competitions the following campaign.

He first took charge of a Championship game when he had the whistle for Millwall’s 3-1 win over Cardiff City in April 2024.

This season he has refereed 17 games in all competitions, handing out 64 yellow cards.

He will be assisted by George Byrne and Nick Greenhalgh, while Declan Bourne will be the fourth official.

Remember the last time?

Swansea City 1 Bristol City 1

Ben Cabango’s close-range finish was not enough to give Swansea City a third win in a row as Bristol City fought back to claim a point on their last visit to the Swansea.com Stadium.

The Wales international turned in a Jisung Eom corner early on in an entertaining first half and it looked like it would prove to be the winner, although Ollie Cooper and Žan Vipotnik had gone close to extending the Swansea lead.

Lawrence Vigouroux made important saves from Yu Hirakawa and Sinclair Armstrong, and the home side once again showed no shortage of defensive grit and desire, but the visitors claimed a point when Jason Knight headed in a corner with 15 minutes to go.
