Swansea City will look to make further progress in the Carabao Cup when they host Plymouth Argyle in the second round tonight (7.45pm).

The Swans did the league double over the visitors - who are now in League One - last term and will be looking to make sure they end a sequence of four home games in a row unbeaten.

Ricardo Santos and Filip Lissah are both making good progress in their recoveries from injury, while head coach Alan Sheehan has indicated he will make changes for this fixture.

New signing Marko Stamenic could be in line for a first start, while the likes of Zeidane Inoussa, Melker Widell and Zan Vipotnik all made an impact from the bench against Watford at the weekend.

Alan Sheehan

Alan Sheehan: "It was only a handful of months ago that we were playing a league game at home against Plymouth, so that underlines it will be no easy task.

"They have a head coach with Championship experience, so we will need to be well prepared and ready.

"We will consider whether to make changes, because we want to go and be competitive in every game.

"We also want to give minutes to players who deserve them and are pushing for them but there will be no handouts.

"We will be as competitive as we possibly can be. It's one game at a time."

Tom Cleverley: “Since (Alan) Sheehan has gone in there it's a little bit more tempo, high intensity football than the controlled, measured builds of Swansea of the years gone by.

"No matter how many changes he makes, they will be quality. You look at the lads they brought on against Watford, I thought they made a massive impact on the game so it will be a very tough test.

"We will go there with a young team and hopefully with a fearless nature and show a really good version of ourselves.

"It was a thoroughly enjoyable performance against QPR in the last round (Argyle won 3-2 at Home Park) and a lot of the players should take confidence from that."

Remember the last time?

Josh Key v Plymouth Argyle

A commanding, dominant performance saw Swansea City make it back-to-back home wins and clean sheets with a comprehensive victory over Plymouth Argyle when the Janners last visited SA1 in April.

The Swans did the damage during an opening half where their energy and intensity proved far too much for the visitors to deal with.

Lewis O’Brien opened the scoring inside four minutes when he headed in his first Swans goal at the end of a flowing move, and Harry Darling doubled the advantage with a header from a set-piece.

Josh Key added the third with a stunning strike 10 minutes before the interval, firing high into the net from distance.

The margin of victory could, and perhaps should, have been greater with the Swans spurning a number of chances.
