Preview | Swansea City Women v Wrexham Women
Swansea City Women host their penultimate home game of the season this evening as they take on Wrexham at the M&P Group 3G, home of Cambrian United.
The game was originally scheduled to take place at Llandarcy Academy of Sport on Sunday, February 15, but was postponed following a pitch inspection due to a waterlogged surface.
The Swans will be looking to finish the season as strongly as possible, with a third-place finish already secured with three games remaining in the Genero Adran Premier, while also having a Bute Energy Welsh Cup final against Cardiff City to look forward to in April.
Despite losing their last two matches, performances have remained strong, and Swansea will be aiming to turn those displays into results as they look to respond following back-to-back south Wales derby losses.
Wrexham, meanwhile, will be looking to extend their five-game winning run in the league. They currently sit one point behind leaders Cardiff City, with tonight’s fixture representing their game in hand ahead of the top two meeting on Sunday.

Swansea City Women head coach, Yzzy Taylor: “It’s been important for us to prepare well for the game. We’ve taken a lot of confidence from our last couple of performances against Cardiff, and it’s about tidying up the areas we need to improve while encouraging the girls to remain as resilient as they have been over the past few weeks.
“We know what this game means for Wrexham and we want to make sure we give them the toughest possible challenge.
“As I’ve said throughout the season, we have incredible squad depth, and that will be important with three games in seven days. Anyone in the squad can compete for a starting place, so it’s really competitive, and credit to the girls for how they’ve supported each other while also taking their opportunities when they’ve come.
“We know Wrexham will be under pressure going into this game, but our focus is on ourselves and what we can bring. We’ll take confidence from our recent performances and look to impose ourselves on the game.”

Two late second-half goals saw Swansea City Women suffer their first away defeat since September as they were beaten 4-2 by Wrexham when the sides last met at The Rock.
Swansea took the lead on two occasions during the contest, with Chloe Chivers opening the scoring following a swift counter-attack. Stacey John threaded a defence-splitting pass through the middle, allowing Chivers to beat the offside trap, round Craven and finish into an empty net.
The lead lasted just nine minutes, however, as John was penalised for pulling Mariam Mahmood down inside the area. Katie Barker stepped up and converted from 12 yards to level the score.
The Swans made the perfect start to the second half, regaining the lead within minutes of the restart. Emily Thomas delivered a superb cross from the right-hand side which was met by Aimee Deacon, who headed home her eighth league goal of the season.
Wrexham responded once again just before the hour mark. A long ball down the right found Mahmood, who advanced into the area before being brought down by Lucy Finch. Barker stepped up for a second time and placed her penalty into the bottom-left corner, with Amelia Forkings guessing correctly but unable to keep it out.
The equaliser shifted momentum in favour of the hosts, and they made the pressure count shortly after. A Hannah Snape corner was delivered to the back post, where Jodie Bartle headed across goal for Lilli Mai Jones to nod home from close range.
Wrexham added a fourth goal in stoppage time to seal the victory, as Rosie Hughes weaved through a number of defenders before rounding Forkings and finishing into an empty net.
