Women
Bute Energy Welsh Cup

Swansea City Women host CPDM Llanystumdwy FC in the second round of the Bute Energy Welsh Cup this afternoon (2pm kick-off) at Llandarcy Academy of Sport, in their final fixture of 2025.

The Swans will be looking to produce a strong response following last week’s defeat to Cardiff City in the Genero Adran Trophy, while Llanystumdwy are aiming to reach the third round of the competition for the first time in their history.

Swansea progressed comfortably in the opening round, defeating Genero Adran South side Cardiff Met 4-0, with an Aimee Deacon brace followed by goals from Stacey John and Emily Richards in the closing stages.

Llanystumdwy, who compete in the fourth tier of Welsh football as part of the North Wales Coast League, reached this stage after navigating the qualifying rounds. They first edged past Berriew Ladies FC following a 1-1 draw and subsequent progression, before securing a 2-1 win over CPD Pwllheli Women to earn a tie against the Swans.

The North Wales side reached the first round of the Welsh Cup last season but were knocked out by Adran Premier outfit Wrexham.

Swansea will be targeting their first Welsh Cup silverware since 2018, when they defeated rivals Cardiff City 2-1 at the Cardiff City Stadium to lift the trophy.

Yzzy Taylor

Head-coach Yzzy Taylor: "We’ve had to really reflect and look at ourselves and how we want to continue to develop over the course of the season this week. We have to ensure that we do our analysis and put our best foot forward over the next few weeks to right the wrongs from last weekend. The group are resilient and have trained very well this week.

"We will put out a team that we believe will do a job for us. Every player in the environment brings different qualities to our squad and this weekend will be no different.

"We are going into the unknown with regards to the opposition this weekend. So pure focus will be on us and what we can bring to the game. How we approach the game will be extremely important."
