Swans Women vs Wrexham

Swansea City Women return to Genero Adran Premier action this afternoon as they travel to the Rock to face high-flying Wrexham (2pm KO).

The Swans face Wrexham off the back of a 3-1 Bute Energy Welsh Cup victory over Aberystwyth Town last weekend, which was sealed by goals from Aimee Deacon, Maddy Murray and Chloe Chivers.

Wrexham were also victorious in their Welsh Cup tie, producing an emphatic 11–0 win over NFA FC.

Both teams head into the fixture in strong league form, with the Swans winning four of their last five matches, while Wrexham remain unbeaten since their 4–2 defeat to The New Saints back in September.

Pre-match views

Dan Sheehan

Assistant head coach Dan Sheehan: “We are really looking forward to the game. We have been putting in some really consistent performances since the home defeat to Wrexham. The girls have really been working hard in training and we are seeing them being rewarded with positive results over the last few weeks.

"We know how much quality Wrexham have which has shown in how many goals they have been scoring so we want to nullify their threats, but for me I feel the best form of defence is attack so we want to cause them problems in possession and look to create opportunities.

"Whoever we play in this league we want to get three points and a win will pull us closer to that top two, so I know the girls will be really motivated come 2pm on Sunday."

Swans Women vs Wrexham

Swansea City Women suffered their first Swansea.com Stadium defeat to Wrexham back in September.

The Red Dragons had a fast start scoring two goals in the opening 12 minutes. Ava Suckley caught Amelia Forkings off her line with an audacious lob giving the visitors the lead, before Katie Barker went through on goal to add a second with a low strike into the bottom corner.

The Swans responded with Stacey John halving the deficit in the 23rd minute, after a long ball from Lucy Finch found the midfielder who poked the ball past the advancing Liz Craven to bring the Swans back into the match.

Wrexham managed to restore their two-goal advantage just before the hour mark however, when Lili Mae Jones was played into the area by Suckley, with the forward calmly slotting the ball past Forkings into the bottom corner.
