Ellie Lake Wrexham

Swansea City Women make the trip to north Wales this afternoon to face Wrexham at The Rock in their final Genero Adran Premier fixture of the season (4.30pm KO).

The Swans will be aiming to secure their first victory of the campaign against the Red Dragons, who clinched the league title for the first time in their history last weekend with a 4-1 win over Cardiff City at the STōK Cae Ras.

Swansea head into the fixture on a run of four consecutive defeats and will be looking to get back to winning ways ahead of their Bute Energy Welsh Cup final against Cardiff City in two weeks’ time.

This fixture has produced plenty of goals this season, with 18 scored across the three meetings so far. Both sides have impressed going forward, with Wrexham netting 69 league goals and the Swans scoring 56.

Fans not making the trip to north Wales this afternoon will be able to watch the match live on Sgorio.

Yzzy Taylor

Swansea City Women's head coach Yzzy Taylor: “We know what to expect going up there this weekend, but it’s a great occasion for us. It’s important we give credit to Wrexham for what they’ve achieved this season, but it should be a good game and hopefully a chance for us to put things right after our defeat in the home fixture.

"We’ve spoken about what the atmosphere might be like. We know they’ve sold plenty of tickets, which is great for the game in Wales, and we’re expecting a big crowd. We’ve tried to manage emotions throughout our preparation, but these are the environments we have to thrive in, so we’re really looking forward to it.

"We’ve had a season we can be proud of, and it makes us even more excited for what’s to come next year.

"Momentum is really important for us. We’ve spoken all season about performance levels and taking pride in what we deliver. There were elements of that against TNS last week, but also areas we know we can improve on. That’s something we’ll be looking to build on against Wrexham to boost confidence heading into the cup final.”

Monet Legall Wrexham

A stoppage-time winner from Ellie Lake sealed a crucial three points in a 3-2 victory in front of over 2,000 fans at the Racecourse.

The Swans came from behind after Lili Mai Jones gave the hosts the lead, with the hometown player striking from distance and goalkeeper Chelsea Herbert unable to adjust in time to keep the ball out.

The lead would only last six minutes, however, as Robyn Pinder was brought down in the box by Keren Allen. The forward stepped up and calmly slotted her penalty into the bottom right-hand corner to register her eighth goal of the season.

Chris Church’s side then grew into the game and took the lead nine minutes into the second half, as Monet Legall latched onto a loose ball from a corner and smashed a powerful effort off the underside of the bar and into the net to put the visitors in front.

Wrexham found an equaliser with 10 minutes remaining, as Rosie Hughes rose highest to head home from a cross on the right to level the scores.

But Lake ensured the Swans had the final say in stoppage time, as her cross deceived Del Morgan and found its way into the bottom corner to seal the win.
