Swansea City Under-21s had to settle for a point in their final regular Professional Development League fixture of the 2025-26 campaign at Sheffield United.

In similar fashion to Sunday's outing at Brentford, goals for both sides came early with Sheffield's Archie Crainie opening the scoring before midfielder Alfie Jones struck home the equaliser moments later.

Swansea's Billy Clarke had the visitors ahead just before the break, and as the Swans were looking on course to end their league campaign with three points, Harry McGlinchey netted from a free-kick in the closing stages for the hosts as it ended 2-2.

The two sides had already claimed play-off places, with the Blades securing a second-placed finish and the Swans in fifth.

But it was a strong showing from a young Swansea City side, which only featured three regular Under-21s' players.

However, it was the hosts who got off to the perfect start just five minutes in when a short free-kick was worked to Alex Matos, who in turn teed up Crainie, and the forward found the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

But they struggled to build on their early momentum and were pegged back within 10 minutes when midfielder Jones found space on the edge of the United box to find the bottom corner himself to square things up.

Swansea had their share of opportunities over the remainder of the half, and the one key chance ended up in the back of the net when full-back Clarke got in behind the United backline and lofted an effort over Tommy Betts.

The hosts pressed in the second period, as important clearances from the Swansea backline kept Sai Sachdev and Zach Giggs at bay.

But the pressure did tell with just under 10 minutes to go when McGlinchey stepped up to curl home a direct free-kick.
