Ceri Phillips coaching Swans Ladies in pre-season

Swansea City Ladies began their pre-season campaign with victory over Bridgwater United Women at Landore Training Ground.

The Swans raced to an early lead and held a 4-0 advantage by half-time, with two goals from Stacey John-Davis as well as strikes from two different trialists.

Monet Legall made it five after the break before Bridgwater got their first of the afternoon. Chloe Chivers restored a five-goal lead when she netted the Swans sixth of the afternoon with 12 minutes remaining but the visiting side found a way past young Swansea keeper Opal Rayner for a second time in the closing stages.

The Swans opened the scoring after just two minutes, Trialist A slotting past the Bridgwater goalkeeper after a great ball from Chivers.

And the home side doubled their lead just nine minutes later with Trialist B hitting a stunning strike into the top-right corner from the edge of the box.

John-Davis picked up where she left off last season, netting her first of the pre-season campaign on the 23rd minute with a low strike into the far corner.

The Genero Adran Premier top scorer would have her second just four minutes later, converting a great cross from Chivers to make it four before half-time.

Legall extended the lead further shortly after the break. She rounded the goalkeeper to tap home after a good ball from Ellie Lake.

The visitors would pull one back with 20 minutes to go after the Swans failed to deal with a corner delivery which snuck in at the near post.

Chivers' soon restored the Swans' five-goal lead with a powerful left-footed strike across the box beating the goalkeeper.

The visitors did find another before full-time after a goalmouth scramble led to the ball being poked home at the front post.
