Report | Swansea City U17s 3 Wolverhampton Wanderers U17s 2

Swansea City Under-17s kicked off their Premier League Cup campaign with a deserved victory over 10-man Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Joma High Performance Centre.
The under-17s reached the final of the Professional Development League Cup last term, and as a result have been invited into the Premier League competition for the first time.
Caio Ifans, Bobby Lewis and Alex Godfrey were on the scoresheet for the hosts as they won an entertaining encounter.
The young Swans thought they had the lead early on when Godfrey’s cross into the box found Harvey Gray, who calmly steered the ball into the net only for the offside flag to rule out his strike.
Swansea were playing some impressive football against the Category One side, and they were rewarded in the 25th minute by taking the lead.
Harlan Perry’s curling free-kick into the area took a few ricochets before before it fell to Ifans on the edge of the area, and he smashed the ball into the bottom corner to put the Swans ahead.
Ten minutes before the break the visitors levelled following a quick counter-attack, with Wilcox firing home from 20 yards.
But, on the stroke of half-time, the Swans would regain their lead as 15-year-old Bobby Lewis found the net from close range.
Both Ifans and Lewis went in search of more goals. Lewis saw a shot saved and Ifans look set to find the net with the rebound only for the Wolves captain to handle the goalbound strike, resulting in his dismissal and a penalty to the hosts.
However, Gray’s spot-kick was saved by Xander Grieves.
But the Swans made up for the miss minutes later as Godfrey fired a wonderful strike into the top corner from a set-piece to give the home side breathing space.
The visitors did pull one back in the dying seconds of the game, but the Swans held on for victory.
