Swansea City Under-21s suffered their first defeat at the Swansea.com Stadium in over five years as Peterborough United claimed all three points in SA1.

Ejiro Abbey got the opener in the first half before an own goal on the cusp of half-time had the Swans level going into the break.

But Lucca Mendonca's volley from a Posh free-kick restored their lead and ensured they took the three points back to Cambridgeshire.

The Swans had shown two changes to the side that ran out 5-0 winners against Colchester United on Good Friday. Milo Robinson and Aimar Govea coming in for Thomas Woodward and Dan Watts respectively.

Two chances were created for the hosts with two minutes on the clock. Morgan Bates' attempted volley was blocked before Robinson's follow-up was gather by Posh 'keeper, Ben Westcott.

A flowing team move followed when in-form Josh Pescatore found Aimar Govea who looked to take Westcott on one-on-one, but the offside flag was raised.

Swans keeer Joe Collins had to make his first save of note in the 10th minute, palming a low strike from Ejiro Abbey out for a corner, which was then dealt with well by Bates.

But the visitors would break the deadlock as Abbey finally got his goal, finding the bottom corner from inside the area.

Swans stopper Collins made a pin-point save to deny Abbey again on the half-hour mark, as the Posh picked up the momentum after going ahead.

But, just before the break, the Swans levelled proceedings as Bates' header was turned into the Peterborough by one of their own players.

Swansea fashioned the first chance of the second period, and it was Bates again who headed the ball narrowly wide from a fantastic Billy Clarke cross.

A strong Swans attack on the hour mark with Caio Ifans and Clarke linking up down the right ended with Griffith firing the ball well over the crossbar.

The game became a stop-start affair and the visitors restored their lead from a set-piece, Mandonca volleying home from the delivery.

With one minute of normal time remaining, a fantastic effort from Pescatore was blocked at the last second in front of goal by Andre Changunda.

Swansea controlled the game thereafter, but were unable to bring themselves back level again as they fell to a rare Swansea.com Stadium defeat.
