Swans Women vs Llandudno

Swansea City Women secured a place in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup semi-finals with a commanding victory over Llandudno Women at Llandarcy.

First-half goals from Jessica Williams and Maisie Miller put the home side in control of the tie, and they were followed by a second-half brace from Taite Trivett, an own goal and a composed finish from Maddy Murray.

The result saw the Swans book their place in the last four for the first time since 2024.

It was a dominant performance throughout, with Swansea taking their tally to 68 in all competitions this season.

The Swans almost made the perfect start inside the opening 20 seconds as Aimee Deacon found herself through on goal, but her curling effort towards the far post drifted narrowly wide.

Looking to stamp their authority on the contest, Swansea dominated possession and created their first clear opening when Sammy Wynne played Miller through down the left. The winger drove into the area before firing straight at Megan Robinson.

Deacon went close again on 10 minutes as Chloe Chivers slipped the forward through on goal, but Llandudno keeper Robinson produced a superb save to turn the effort around the post for a corner.

However, Swansea made the breakthrough from the resulting set-piece, with a Chivers delivery finding captain Williams in the area, and her guided effort struck the post before rolling over the line.

The Swans doubled their advantage 15 minutes later when Eilish Mitchell picked out Miller, who showed excellent footwork to beat two players inside the box before calmly slotting past Robinson.

Chivers continued to pull the strings in midfield, later threading a pinpoint pass through to Trivett, whose strike from inside the area was comfortably held by Robinson.

Swansea’s top scorer almost added to her tally in the closing stages of the half, curling a free-kick from 18 yards that the keeper did well to keep out.

The Swans came flying out of the blocks after the break and extended their lead early in the second half. A deflected pass inside the area found Trivett, who fired home from close range for Swansea’s third.

A fourth soon followed when Miller delivered a teasing cross into the box, which deflected awkwardly off Jess Mills and wrong-footed Robinson before finding its way into the net.

Amelia Forkings was called into action shortly after, as a ball into the box found Erin Doran, whose first-time effort was met by a sharp reflex save from the Swansea goalkeeper to preserve the clean sheet.

Trivett grabbed her second and Swansea’s fifth just before the hour mark, with Deacon again the provider as she played the winger through. Trivett cut inside onto her right before firing into the corner of the net.

Swansea continued to push for more, pinning the visitors inside their own half, with substitute Emily Richards going close after being teed up outside the area, only to see her powerful effort saved by Robinson.

But the hosts rounded off the scoring with 15 minutes remaining as a superb cross-field ball from Ellie Lake fell to the feet of Murray, who took a touch before coolly finishing.
