Roberts raring to hear Jack Army roar
Connor Roberts has revealed the Swans are hoping to give the Jack Army more to cheer about this weekend.
The Swans host Preston on Saturday as Graham Potter takes charge of his first game on home soil.
Potter made a winning start last weekend as the Swans beat Sheffield United 2-1 at Bramall Lane on the opening day thanks to goals from Oli McBurnie and super sub Yan Dhanda.
Both goals sparked mass celebrations in the away end, with around 1,000 fans having made the journey up from Wales.
And local lad Roberts, who hails from Crynant, is hoping the Jack Army will raise the decibel levels again on Saturday.
“Playing at the Liberty in front of our fans is an incredible feeling,” said the 22-year-old right-back.
“When you hear them singing their hearts out for the team it gives you goosebumps.
“We are really looking forward to playing in front of the Jack Army because they were immense last weekend at Bramall Lane.
“The scenes when we scored the equaliser and the winner were brilliant to witness and be a part of.
“It will be the same on Saturday. There’s always something special about your first home game – I remember that as a fan.
“But we know as players that we have to get the fans on the edge of their seat.
“I think we showed last weekend the type of style we are looking to play under the new manager.
“In the Premier League it was difficult and we were forced to be more defensive, but against Sheffield United we really grew throughout the game and we put in a really exciting attacking football.
“I think the fans enjoyed watching us last weekend. We played with more freedom and that’s the Swansea style which I grew up watching.
“Hopefully we can continue to play like that on Saturday.”
