Ryan Manning believes Swansea City’s style of play suits him down to the ground, and he is looking forward to building on his strong debut.

The Irishman joined the Swans from QPR on transfer deadline day, along with Ryan Bennett, Kasey Palmer and Joel Latibeaudiere.

He performed well as he made his Swans bow in the 2-0 win over the Potters, showing the quality and energy he can bring in a position where Steve Cooper is blessed with in-form options.

And, having had an excellent season in an entertaining QPR side last term, Manning feels Swansea’s positive, possession play will be another ideal fit for him.

“This move was a big one for me, and one of the reasons was that – having really enjoyed the style at QPR – I could it is similar here,” said Manning, who has been called up to the Republic of Ireland squad.

“The passing style and the desire to dominate the football suits me, and my understanding with the boys is getting better all the time.

“It was definitely good to get some game time against Stoke as I had not played as much as I wanted prior to joining.

“I played in the League Cup and scored for QPR at the outset of the season and I was really looking forward to the league campaign.

“Obviously, with my contract situation things got delayed a bit for me in terms of playing and I was delighted to get out there and get some minutes under my belt.

“To have a win and a clean sheet on debut is the perfect start. The system we play, and the way we work in the week allowed me to have a good understanding of things going into the game.

“We want to impose our game no matter who we play means it’s a big help and hopefully means we can get even better as the season goes on.”
