Sheehan signs new two-year deal

25th April 2014

Swansea City are pleased to announce that young starlet Josh Sheehan has signed a new two-year contract with the club.

The 19-year-old midfielder put pen-to-paper on a deal that secures his future with the Swans until 2016.

And Sheehan, who has been ever-present in midfield for the Under-21s development side this season, is targeting first-team opportunities after committing his future to the club.

"I'm delighted to sign a new deal with the club," said the Wales U19 international. "I've been here ever since I was 10-years-old, and this is what I've been working hard for.

"This season, I've had the opportunity to travel away with the first-team, which was a great experience for me.

"After having a taste of it, it makes me want more. I want to be travelling with the first-team week-in-week-out.

"So, going forward, the target for me is it to continue to work hard, and hopefully I'll be rewarded with further opportunities .

"From a personal perspective, I feel it's been a good season for me, coming back from a broken ankle, winning the FAW Youth Cup with the U19s and now signing a new deal.

"With the U21s, we started the season slowly, but as the season has gone on, we have improved.

"Next season we are hoping to continue that improvement."
