Sigurdsson: Win gives us added belief

21st January

Match-winner Gylfi Sigurdsson believes the Swans' superb 3-2 victory at Liverpool will give the team added belief and confidence in their quest for Premier League survival.
Sigurdsson struck Swansea's third after Jurgen Klopp's high-flyers had cancelled out Fernando Llorente's opening two goals.
It was enough to earn the Swans their first Premier League victory at Anfield and send Paul Clement's side out of the relegation zone.

"It was a fantastic three points for us,'' declared the Icelander, who now has seven goals in all competitions this season. "That's a big win for us away from home, especially against a side like Liverpool and the way they have been playing this season.
"After being 2-0 up and letting the lead slip, we showed a lot of character to come back the way we did to win the game.
"The game plan was to defend really well, which we did, especially in the first half. We got two early goals after the break and things looked good for us for a few minutes. But they got the early goal back and it give them and the whole stadium a lift.
"When they got that second goal to make it 2-2 it was a massive blow for us. But we always believed we could get something out of the game if we kept on defended well. Then we got that chance at the end, which was nice.
"Tom (Carroll) tried to dribble through the heart of their defence. It came off someone and as the ball was rolling to me I picked a corner. Sometimes the keeper picks that corner and it doesn't go in. Thankfully he went other way and we got the three points.
"That's massive for our confidence, especially getting the three points. It shows a lot of improvement has been made over the last few weeks.''
But Sigurdsson knows they can't afford to get carried away, adding: "At end of day it's only a good three points.
"We are already looking forward to the game against Southampton a week on Tuesday. It's another massive game for us and we need to build on the positive outcome here at Anfield.''

After Liverpool suffered their first defeat at home in the League in over a year, Sigurdsson was quick to praise the impact of new head coach Clement.
"Training has been really good over the last few weeks. We know what he wants from us and the message is really simple and very clear.
"Three points here today will give everyone belief and confidence and things look a lot better going into the week.
"But we need to keep doing what we've been doing over the last few weeks and build on it and hopefully we'll be alright.''
Sigurdsson's final word though was for fellow goalscorer Llorente.
"Llorente is a goalscorer and for him to score two is fantastic. And, for it to be in a game that we won, is even better," he added.
"He worked really hard and showed that when he gets deliveries on his head he will score goals. It's good for his confidence and hopefully he will keep scoring.''
