Swansea City Women have completed the signing of defender Steph Turner ahead of the 2023-24 Genero Adran Premier campaign.

Turner joins the Swans following a success laden 12-year spell with Cardiff Met, having won six Genero Adran Premier titles with her previous side.

The move sees the defender return to the club, having helped the Swans lift the inaugural Welsh top-flight title during the 2009-10 campaign.

To add to her seven league titles, Turner also joins Swansea off the back of captaining Met to Adran Trophy glory last season, having beaten league champions Cardiff City Women in the final.

The defender is the Swans fourth summer signing, following the arrivals of teammates Robyn Pinder, Sophie Brisland-Hancocks, Kelsey Jones and Chloe Bull at the club.

She joins Swansea City on a semi-professional contract and will wear the number four shirt during the upcoming campaign.

“I’m really excited, for me Swansea is where it all started a long time ago and so much has changed for the club in that time. I’m excited to be back,” said Turner.

“It’s been a really difficult pre-season, there has been a lot of running, but the girls and the staff have been really welcoming so it’s been really enjoyable so far.

“With the standard of the club, we’ve got to be aiming for the league title, and with the quality of the players we have we can certainly go for that.

“I think the club has made massive changes, especially giving contracts to the players and the aims and ambitions for the season are a real attraction.

“With Robyn [Pinder], Sophie [Brisland Hancocks], and Chloe [Bull], who also used to play for Cardiff Met, there are a lot of girls that I’ve known for a long time. So coming to the club was quite easy and mixing with the girls has been, as well.

“The competition for places is really high so I think every game and every training session really does matter.”
