Steve Cooper hailed two “outstanding” finishes from Borja Baston as the striker’s brace helped Swansea City to a 3-2 win over Preston North End at the Liberty Stadium.

Borja took his tally for the season to three goals in three games with two differing but equally unerring strikes.

His first brought the Swans level as he steered in an intelligent pull-back from Connor Roberts after good work by Jay Fulton.

His second was a header into the far corner, and it proved to be the winner after Jake Bidwell and Bersant Celina had combined down the left.

“It’s brilliant. Borja is working hard, he is hungry and he has got a knack of getting in the right spot to score goals,” said head coach Cooper.

“You look at his two finishes, they are outstanding number nine finishes. The first is a cut-back from Connor, he calmly puts that in and the header was fantastic, a great goal.

“We saw parts of Borja at his best today, and that is being in the box scoring goals. Let’s hope it continues.

“That’s what number nines hopefully do best. He has three in three now, he is scoring a lot of goals in training and working hard. You can see he is not just about when we have got the ball.

"He is happy, he is a big character. He is very well-liked in the dressing room. You can see he is enjoying life in Swansea.”
