Steve Cooper | If we perform, results will follow

Steve Cooper says Swansea City will continue to focus on performances, confident results will take care of themselves if his side are at or near their best.

The Swans have enjoyed an excellent start to the season, but have been left frustrated after fine displays at Bristol City and Watford did not yield victories.

However, they remain second in the Championship table ahead of Saturday’s Liberty Stadium clash with Reading.

And Cooper says a three-match winless run is no cause for concern, and that continuing to perform to a high level will lead to positive outcomes.

“We’re trying to focus very much on performances,” he said.

“We believe if you get the right performances then the results will come.

“As I said after the Bristol City game, there were spells of that game where we were as good as we have been all season.

“We would have been more than good to win that game, but we didn’t.

“We reflect accordingly at the good things we’ve done and we move forward.

“I think we did that on Tuesday night against Watford, who very much still had a Premier League team despite the changes they made.

“Again I felt we were much the better team, and fell on the wrong side of some defining moments in the two boxes.

“That is a learning from playing a Premier League team, but there are lots of positives to take. We are in good form and looking forward to a home game.”
