Swans development is key

25th March

Swansea City's Under-21 development squad stormed back from a two-goal deficit to beat Bristol City 3-2 at Failand training ground.

Goals from Elan Gordon and Toby Ajala gave the home side an early lead, but a very young Swans side fought back to level at the break via Kurtis March and Rory Donnelly.

The in-form Josh Sheehan scored the winner after the break to give coach Kristian O'Leary plenty to be pleased about.

"Yet again we went into the game with a very young squad,'' explained O'Leary. "It's a policy we've stuck to for most of the season.

"Six of our side were under the age of 18, but they performed very well considering Bristol played three over-aged players and a few pros.

"It's nice to come away with a win, but as far as we are concerned it's not always about the result.

"It's about developing players in the right way so that they can hopefully progress into the first team frame in the future.''
