Connor Roberts made his Wales debut alongside club-mate Andy King as Ryan Giggs’s men lost out to Uruguay in the China Cup final.

Roberts landed his first senior cap after replacing Rangers defender Declan John for the final 31 minutes in Nanning, China.

King, meantime, played a full 90 minutes for the second time in four days having also featured in the 6-0 victory over China last Thursday.

Wales had turned on the style in their first game under Giggs, but there was no follow-up victory against an impressive Uruguay side featuring Barcelona’s Luis Suarez.

The South Americans scored the only goal of the game early in the second half through Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani.

Roberts and King will now head back to Swansea to rejoin Carlos Carvalhal's squad ahead of Saturday's Premier League trip to Manchester United.
