The Swans will take time out from training this week to promote Wales to local businesses in the United States.

The Swans will link up with the Welsh Government in North Carolina to host a barbecue at a popular local restaurant with the aim of raising the profile of the country.

The event will be attended by an array of North Carolina-based businesses.

The hope is to capitalise on the Swans’ Stateside tour to advertise Wales.

The private function comes during the Swans’ American trip and follows a series of off-the-pitch events including a showing of Jack To A King in Cary, North Carolina and an open training session for US fan groups at Rhodes Field in Philadelphia.

“We are thrilled that the Welsh Government is able to tap into the success and global reach of Swansea City to help promote business in Wales,” said the Swans’ COO Chris Pearlman.

“That they are able to do it strategically as part of our American tour makes it all the more meaningful.”

Gareth Morgan, head of Welsh Government in North America, added: “The Welsh Government has several offices across North America focused on raising the profile of and bringing jobs to Wales.

“The success of Swansea City AFC and the US tour represents a great opportunity to show what Wales has to offer businesses.

“In sponsoring this barbecue and inviting local businesses, we are bringing Wales to the world as we look to continue to bring the world to Wales.”
