Swans help kids brush up on their art

Swansea City skipper Jack Cork swapped his boots for brushes for the Community Trust's Ziggies session at Penllergaer Primary School.
Attending the group's weekly after school club with the Ziggies project, Cork was accompanied by club ambassador Lee Trundle as the Swans duo joined in with the art-based activities aimed at improving primary school pupils' physical literacy.
"It's been a really good day," said Cork. "It has been fun doing arts and crafts with the kids.
"You can see how much they enjoy it and it's good for the parents to have a bit of fun with their children."
Ziggies is a proven family engagement project benefiting children between the ages of three and eight. Aimed at giving parents the confidence to encourage and support their child's love of stories and physical literacy, it is run throughout the local community.
With weekly sessions led by parent-volunteers supported by our co-ordinators, Ziggies delivers engaging sessions that consist of reading stories followed by a number of physical and craft-based activities relating to the story,
characters or themes of the book.
"It's a great scheme with parents and their kids interacting with each other," added Trundle. "They had a story read to them then we helped out with the arts and crafts. The good thing is that the Community Trust encourages the parents to get involved with the sessions and it teaches them how to help develop their child's physical literacy."
