Swansea City is pleased to announce that the club has been awarded a Gold Family Excellence Award by the EFL.

The award is to recognise the outstanding quality of the family experience at the club and the immense contribution made by club staff and stewards, particularly around matchdays.

All EFL clubs received two ‘mystery family’ visits throughout the 2018-19 season, with their feedback and reports determining whether each respective club would achieve ‘Family Excellence’ status.

The Swans were one of only nine clubs from 72 to achieve Gold standard after their assessment.

Having received an overall score of nine out of 10, the Swans were rated third overall in the EFL, with the assessment report stating: “Swansea City matched their outstanding first visit again in the second visit, with the family saying it was their best-ever experience at a Football League club.

“On both occasions the consistency of the execution across all touchpoints was evident and included detailed information, lots of merchandise, refreshments and activities in the concourse that were carefully planned with families and particularly the needs of younger fans at the forefront of their thinking.

"The section on the website for kids and the ‘view from your seat’ really impressed the assessors, as did the impactful signage in the family concourse.

“Of course, all these fantastic friendly touchpoints need great people to really bring them to light, and the club representatives didn’t disappoint. One of the ‘Match Makers’ stewards even took time to speak to our family and give them background on the club, a typical example of why Swansea deserve so much credit for their family focus.’’

EFL Chief Executive, Shaun Harvey, said: “I would like to congratulate the clubs that have achieved Family Excellence status and those that have been awarded Gold status this year. We look forward to help drive change and support the continued effort to attract and retain future generations of supporters.”
