Swans report back for pre-season

2nd July

The first day of pre-season training kicked off today with the Swans squad checking in for various fitness tests.
With the squad due to fly to Holland on Wednesday for their ten-day tour, the medical team were busy measuring body fat and saliva along with holding medicals and analysing each player's running form at the club's new training complex in Landore.
It is a vital phase of the pre-season programme, which, as Fitness and Conditioning Coach Oscar Garcia explains, is key to injury prevention.
"It is important that we see immediately how the players are following the holidays," said Garcia.
"So today we have looked at a variety of things, and gradually we will build each player up throughout the pre-season programme so that they are fully prepared for the new campaign.
"The players have returned in good shape. They are given a programme to keep to during their time off, and they have stuck to it, which is great.
"But part of the tests are also looking at how to prevent injuries, which is very important as we have a big season ahead in not only the Barclays Premier League and domestic cups, but also the Europa League too."
New signings Jordi Amat and Jose Canas also met up with their new team-mates for the first time following their moves from Espanyol and Real Betis.
