Swans stars set for international duty

Swansea City will be without 14 players as they head off on international duty this week.

Connor Roberts, Declan John and Joe Rodon are with Ryan Giggs’ Wales squad for their friendly against Spain in Cardiff on Thursday and a Nations League match against the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Tuesday, October 16.

Martin Olsson and Kristoffer Nordfeldt could feature for Sweden, who travel to Kaliningrad for a Nations League tie against Russia on Thursday before hosting a friendly against Slovakia on Monday, October 16.

Oli McBurnie will travel to Israel with Alex McLeish’s Scotland for a Nations League tie on Thursday before returning to Hampden Park to play Portugal in a friendly on Sunday.

Defender Cameron Carter-Vickers will be heading across the Atlantic for the USA’s friendlies against Colombia in the early hours of Friday morning and then Peru early on Wednesday, October 17.

Six young Swans have been called up to represent their nations at under-21 level.

Defenders Brandon Cooper and Aaron Lewis will travel to Romania for a Uefa Under-21 Championship qualifier on Friday.

Cian Harries, Daniel James and Liam Cullen are also in Robert Page’s squad, who also face Switzerland at Rodney Parade on Tuesday, October 16.

Joel Asoro will return to Sweden for a Uefa Under-21 Championship qualifier against Belgium on Tuesday, October 16.
