Swans wait on Routledge

Swansea City are assessing the fitness of Wayne Routledge ahead of Saturday’s clash with Wigan Athletic (3pm).

Routledge found the net in victories over Brentford and Sheffield Wednesday following his return to the starting line-up earlier this month, and also featured in the defeat at Hull.

But he had to sit out the Boxing Day loss to Aston Vila due to a tight calf, and Swansea will wait to see if he can recover in time to play some part against the Latics at the Liberty.

But midfielder Tom Carroll remains on the sidelines following groin and hip problems, while left-back Martin Olsson is out for the rest of the season after rupturing his Achilles.

“We will see with Wayne, Villa was a bit soon for him with some tightness in his calf,” said manager Graham Potter.

“It will probably come too soon for Tom, but he is making progress.”
