Swans' Welsh duo secure winning start

11th June

Swans duo Ashley Williams and Neil Taylor helped Wales secure a winning start to Euro 2016 with a 2-1 victory over Slovakia.

Wales kicked off their first major tournament finals since 1958 in style, courtesy of goals from Gareth Bale and Hal Robson-Kanu.

Bale opened the scoring inside the opening ten minutes with a stunning effort from 30 yards.

Slovakia's Duda levelled the scores with a cool finish just after the hour-mark, while substitute Robson-Kanu snatched the winning goal in the 81st minute.

Fellow Swans Lukasz Fabianski and Gylfi Sigurdsson are due to begin their own Euro 2016 campaigns in the coming days.

Fabianski's Poland face Northern Ireland on Sunday afternoon, while Sigurdsson's Iceland play Portugal on Tuesday.
