Swans win plaudits after cup win

24th January

Following a historic night at the Liberty on Wednesday, the spotlight has been firmly on Swansea City.

Michael Laudrup's men made history by beating Chelsea 2-0 on aggregate to secure a place in the Capital One Cup final, where they will now face Bradford on February 24.

In what was a sell-out crowd at the Liberty, the Jack Army roared the Swans on to their first major cup final in the club's 100-year history.

And following the celebrations, both players and pundits alike turned to social networking site Twitter to heap praise on the club.

Here is a selection of some of the best tweets:

Henry Winter, Daily Telegraph:"Re: the People's Final. Bradford and Swansea deserve to be at Wembley for sporting reasons, not simply romantic ones. Played well in semis."

Oliver Kay, The Times: "It's a Swansea-Bradford final in the Capital One Cup. Delighted for both teams, players, managers and fans. Totally deserved."

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand: "Congrats Ashley Williams and Jazz Richards, now go pick up that trophy! Swansea must be going nuts right now for the cup final"

Steffan Rhodri (aka Dave Coaches from Gavin & Stacey): "Think how chuffed Leon Britton will be when he opens his front door tonight... He's been there all the way and was immense tonight #legend"

Michu: "Wembley is coming...the dream continues!"

Wayne Routledge: "Wembley...#OverTheMoon"

Adrian Tucker, goalkeeping coach: "Get in there! Congratulations to all involved with the club! Wem-bl-ey, wem-bl-eyyy!

Former Swans player Adrian Forbes: "YESSSSSSSS. Well done the Swans. Deserved win and had enough chances to win on the night. Wembley get ready for the Jack Army"
