SwansAid to present special grant

25th November

SwansAid will be presenting a cheque of £10,000 to one fantastic community project when the Swans host Everton at the Liberty on Sunday, December 22.

The Community Trust fund, which has been set up to help address the issues, needs and aspirations of communities within West Wales, has a combined total of £50,000 available to help support local charities and community groups for 2013/14.

In the first of this season's two funding rounds, SwansAid has received a fantastic reply in applications for the large grant of £10,000 and the six separate grants of £2,000.

In light of Friday's (November 22) deadline for round one applications, the Community Trust's board of trustees will now assess the entries to decide which projects they will award the special grants.

Having received such a great response, Head of Community Trust Linden Jones is delighted with the standard of the applicants.

"We are really pleased with the level of interest there has been in SwansAid," said Jones.

"The bids appear to be of a very high standard, so making the decisions about which ones to support is going to be very difficult.

"But it is good to know that, through SwansAid, we can put money back into our local community by supporting some of these very worthwhile projects."

With applications for round two of this season's funding opening in January 2014, local community projects are urged to apply to SwansAid.

The Community Trust has been working successfully in Swansea for over 20 years through various initiatives, projects and courses, and now SwansAid is taking their services even further.
