Swansea Cardiff City Ladies League Cup

26th January

A 3-1 victory over Cardiff City Women saw Swansea City Ladies progress to the final of the WPWL League Cup at Leckwith Stadium on Sunday.
The Swans showed their intent from the kick off, with Sarah Adams and Jodie Passmore being denied by some fine saves by the Cardiff keeper.
At the other end, Carrie Slack and Alicia Powe proved solid at the back while Swans stopper Ffion Ashman prevented the hosts from taking the lead.
Swansea saw a chance from Katy Hosford cleared off the line when a Jodie Passmore cross reached the striker before half-time.
Ian Owen's side did take the lead in the second half when midfielder Emma Beynon, assisted by Passmore, slotted past Cardiff's keeper.
Hosford and Ria Hughes went close to doubling the Swans' lead before the hosts levelled the score from the penalty spot following a foul from Slack.
With the score level at 1-1 after 90 minutes, extra time was played.
And the Swans raised their game with Passmore netting soon after kick-off to give the visitors a well-deserved lead.
The Swans weren't done there though as they doubled the lead when Hosford found Passmore, who chipped the Cardiff keeper to seal victory.
Adams went close to adding another before the final whistle, only to see her effort cannon back out off the post.
But Swans Ladies had done enough to secure their place in the League Cup final, where they will face PILCS, who beat Cardiff Met 3-1.
Cardiff had a few chances to score a consolation goal in extra-time but were kept out by strong defending from Swansea. Whilst a strike from Swansea's Sarah Adams hit the post in the dying minutes of the match.

Swans line-up:
Ashman, Powe, Slack, Ridings (John 65), Hughes (Davies, 112), Newcombe (Thomas, 45), Hancocks, Beynon, Adams, Passmore, Hosford.
