Swansea City Checkatrade Trophy Coventry City

23rd January

Coach Cameron Toshack believes Swansea City's development squad face their toughest test of the season against League One side Coventry City in the Checkatrade Trophy quarter-final at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday (7.30pm).
The under-21s are two games from a Wembley final following their third-round victory over Wolves' academy earlier this month, while the Sky Blues have not lost in the competition this campaign with victories over West Ham and Brighton's academies.
The young Swans go into the game on the back of ten wins in a row - their most recent a 2-1 win over Newcastle in the Premier League Cup on Friday.
Despite the incredible form, Toshack has encouraged the youngsters to take their confidence into Tuesday's game.
"We are really excited and looking forward to the challenge of playing another League One side," he said.
"To be the last remaining academy side left in the competition is a huge achievement and gives us a great opportunity to fly the flag for development football.

"We have experienced some great tests in this tournament so far this season, which has included wins over Newport and Plymouth. Those wins helped us grow as a team, but Coventry will certainly be the biggest game of the season so far.
"Their side might be struggling in the league but they have won five games with 15 goals in this competition and shown they will not be push overs against younger sides as they have beaten Brighton and West Ham, so we must be prepared."
Tickets are on sale for the cup tie at the Liberty, with Toshack calling for Swans fans to come out and get behind the next generation of players.
"We want fans to come out and support us," he continued. "Anyone who has seen our games this season will recognise we are playing some very attractive football.
"This group has won 16 of their last 18 games, which is an incredible record for any side. We feel very confident and feel like we can compete with whoever is put in front of us.
"We want as many people as possible to come and watch our young lads - it would give them a massive boost and hopefully help them achieve something special this season."
