Swansea City is delighted to announce the signing of Manuel Benson on loan from Burnley, subject to international clearance.

The left-footed 28-year-old forward will spend the rest of the 2025-26 campaign with the Swans, and he will wear the number 21 shirt.

The Belgian-born Angola international, will provide a direct, pacy and aggressive creative threat in the final third with his ability to drift infield from the right flank onto his left foot, and a high work-rate without the ball.

He was a key figure in Burnley’s promotion from the Championship during the 2022-23 season, in which he netted 11 goals and contributed three assists in 33 appearances.

Born in Lokeren, Benson came through the ranks at his hometown club and also had stints in the youth set-ups at Anderlecht and Lierse, going on to reach the senior ranks with the latter.

Moves to Genk and Royal Antwerp followed, and it was with the latter that he caught the eye of Vincent Kompany who brought him to Turf Moor in the summer of 2022.

Head coach Alan Sheehan said: “Manuel is a very exciting player who brings a lot of quality, energy and work-rate on and off the ball.

“He has Championship experience and has been a key performer at this level. We look forward to working with him and to Manuel making an impact in a Swansea shirt.”

Director of football Richard Montague said: “Manuel’s record shows he is a player who can make things happen, and we believe his speed and creative spark can be a real asset for Swansea City.

“He will add real dynamism to our play in the final third and we cannot wait for him to link up with his new teammates at Fairwood. Once we were aware this loan was a possibility we moved decisively to secure his services.”

Global head of analytics and recruitment Adam Worth said: “Manuel is a player we have been monitoring and tracking over recent months, and we are delighted to have been able to bring him to Swansea City.

“He has excelled in the Championship and we hope he will now do so in a Swansea shirt."
