Swansea City is delighted to announce that the Jac Lewis Foundation will be the club’s 2025-26 charity partner of the year with a particular focus on the fantastic work of the hub which takes place at the stadium every Friday.

Mental health support without barriers

The Jac Lewis Foundation was formed by the family and friends of former Swans academy player Jac Lewis who sadly died by suicide at the age of just 27 after struggling to get the support he needed at the time he needed it.

A carpenter and talented footballer who was playing for Welsh League side Ammanford at the time, his passing was felt deeply by the local community who were determined to provide mental health support that was easy to access as soon as it is needed.

Their motto of no barriers, no judgement, just support is a key feature of their approach to mental health support, ensuring there are no waiting lists or hoops to jump through.

Based in Ammanford, the charity’s mission is to create an environment where mental health is openly discussed, and individuals feel empowered to seek help and support.

While they also provide accessible, professional wellbeing and mental health services, ensuring that support is readily available to those who need it, and work to strengthen community resilience by training individuals to become wellbeing mentors, enabling them to offer support to others during difficult times.

Swansea City wellbeing hub

In 2021, the Jac Lewis Foundation joined with Swansea City to host a mental health and wellbeing hub at the Swansea.com Stadium in order to serve supporters and the community local to the ground.

The weekly drop-in sessions take place between 10am and 3pm every Friday and are facilitated by qualified counsellors giving those who attend the opportunity to receive professional help and support for mental health difficulties.

The overall aim of this project will be to decrease mental health difficulties and increase the wellbeing of members of the community in what continues to be a challenging time for everyone.

Over the course of the season, the Swans will be working to support the Jac Lewis Foundation in reaching more and more of the most vulnerable people in our community and to help remove the taboos of talking about mental health.
