Swansea City goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel joins Werder Bremen on loan

28th January

Swansea City goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel has joined German club Werder Bremen on loan for the rest of the season, subject to international clearance.
Tremmel, who left the Swans in May only to pen a new two-year deal three months later, hasn't featured this season with Lukasz Fabianski and Kristoffer Nordfeldt in front of him in the pecking order.
He now links up with Werder Bremen, who are currently third-bottom in the German top-flight, as he aims to help them steer away from the relegation zone.
The 37-year-old seals his return to the Bundesliga, having played in his native Germany for Cottbus, Hertha Berlin, Hannover and Unterhaching.
Tremmel has made 52 appearances since first joining the Swans in 2011, with the shotstopper playing a key role in the club's successful Capital One Cup campaign in 2013.
