Swansea City have been handed a home tie against Northampton Town in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

Steve Cooper's men will have home advantage for the tie against the League Two Cobblers, who finished 15th under the guidance of Keith Curle last season.

There will be some familiar faces among the opposition for Swans midfielder Matt Grimes, who spent the 2017-18 season on loan at Sixfields.

The clubs have not faced each other for 11 years; the last meeting coming in League One in 2008 when the Swans were beaten 4-2 on their travels.

However, that season's reverse fixture at the Liberty did end in a 3-0 win for the hosts.

The tie will take place in the week commencing August 12. The date, kick-off time and ticket details will be confirmed in due course.
