Swansea City joined Show Racism the Red Card, Swansea City AFC Foundation and COSARAF in hosting Iftar celebrations at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) partnered with COSARAF Charitable Foundation this Ramadan to run interfaith community Iftar celebrations at sports venues across south Wales.

Swans players Jess Williams and Caitlin Williams were part of a Q&A, meeting young fans and talking about the journey for women’s football in Swansea and Wales.

Guest speakers also included SRtRC’s campaign manager for Wales Dean Pymble, community leader Dr Mahaboob Basha, and the Foundation’s EDI lead Lloyd Thomas, who spoke about the health and wellbeing provision being provided at Swansea Mosque.

Foundation participants from the health and wellbeing and Premier League Kicks programmes also spoke.

Pymble said: “Hosting our Interfaith Community Iftar at Swansea City shows the incredible power football clubs have to bring people together.

"The stadium becomes more than a sporting venue, it becomes a shared space where communities connect, learn from one another, and celebrate the diversity that makes our society stronger.”

Swansea City head of supporter services, Hayley Ford, added: “I’m delighted we were able to host another Iftar at the stadium. The numbers of people in attendance are growing year on year, and it’s lovely to be part of the Ramadan celebrations.

“It is incredibly important to us that Swansea City and the Swansea.com Stadium feel like a home for everyone.

“Football clubs are born out of their communities, and remaining a community hub is a key part of a club’s identity. For us, hosting events like Iftar, Women’s Forums, LGBTQ+ forums, disability forums and other community activities is an important part of our role off the pitch."
