Swansea City Ladies Cwmbran Celtic Jodie Passmore

17th May

Swansea City Ladies finished their 2015-16 season in style with a 2-0 victory away at Cwmbran Celtic Ladies.
The Swans started well with some excellent attacking play from Katie Davies before skipper Alicia Powe produced some impressive blocks at the other end.
The Swans took the lead through Jodie Passmore who converted a penalty in the 12th minute after Davies was brought down inside the area.
Solid defending from Lowri Ridings and a goal-line clearance from Megan Franks prevented Cwmbran from levelling.
In the second half Cwmbran had some attempts at goal which were comfortably saved by Swansea's keeper Ffion Ashman.
A fine free-kick from Passmore was seen out by Cwmbran's keeper to prevent the Swans from strengthening their lead on the hour mark before Swans defender Powe and Ridings were on hand to stop Cwmbran from scoring.
Swans Ladies had chances to extend their advantage in the 77th minute only for efforts from Ridings and Hancocks to narrowly miss the target.
But, the Swans did double their lead five minutes from time when Passmore scored her second of the match latching on to a superb pass from substitute Emma Beynon.
Passmore could secured her hat-trick soon after only for her headed effort to be off target before two good saves from Ashman ensured the Swans maintained their 2-0 lead at the final whistle.
"We came out with great intensity after a tough loss against PILCS, and we worked together as a team for the full 90 minutes to secure the three points" said Swansea's Taylor Bubnick.
On her time in Wales, the Canadian added "I've absolutely thoroughly enjoyed my time here, it's been an amazing experience and I've learnt so much."
